DAY 2: Nile Cruise Luxor – Esna – Edfu Luxor. The ancient Nile and the magnificent temples
Full-board accommodation. Visit the Valley of the Kings (tombs of the main Pharaohs, 3 Tombs). Since explanations of the tombs visited inside the tombs are not permitted, our guide will provide explanations outside (the Tomb of Tutankhamun is not included, as all the treasures are in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo). You will also visit the Colossi of Memnon, two impressive statues of Amenophis II, as well as the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. We will then cross to the east bank of the Nile. There, you will visit the temples of Luxor and Karnak, an architectural complex featuring the Hypostyle Hall with its 134 columns, the obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Sacred Lake of Amun. In Luxor, you will spend the night on board. You will continue the journey and, after passing through the Esna Lock, you will arrive at Edfu, where you will spend the night. Overnight on board.
Day 3: Edfu – Kom Ombo – Aswan. A cruise along the Nile River
Today you will enjoy full board on board. At dawn, you will visit the Temple of Horus (the god represented by a falcon) in Edfu, one of the most beautiful temples from the Ptolemaic period in an exceptional state of preservation. Visit its temple, the only temple dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haroesis. You will see a Nilometer (an ancient system for measuring the level of the Nile River) and a mummified crocodile. Sail to Aswan. In the evening, you will enjoy the Djellaba Night, which can be purchased at a reasonable price in the local markets. Overnight on board.
DAY 4: Aswan – Nile Cruise and Natural Paradise
Today begins another day, and you wake up on the Nile. On your boat, you’ll have breakfast and prepare to explore a unique city: Aswan, the southernmost city in the country. We’ll continue with a visit to the beautiful and emblematic temple of Philae, also known as Philae or Philae. This was the name given to an island located in the Nile River, eleven kilometers south of Aswan. During the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, the temple dedicated to the goddess Isis was built there. However, during the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the island of Philae was submerged. However, thanks to UNESCO sponsorship, the temples were dismantled, moved, and rebuilt on the neighboring islet of Agilkia. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and interesting visits during our Nile cruise. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a pleasant and relaxing ride on a felucca (a typical Egyptian sailboat). After this relaxing day, we will return to the ship for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Aswan. Overnight at Abu Simbel. Sound and Light Show. A legendary tour.
At the scheduled time, transfer to Abu Simbel. This temple, also known as the Temple of Ramses II, is one of the most incredible sites in Egypt. This sanctuary is carved into the rock itself and was built over 20 years, from 1284 BC to 1264 BC. It was a pharaonic work that had to be relocated after the construction of the Aswan Dam. Arrival and visit of the temple, which, along with the pyramids of Giza, are arguably the temples not to be missed on a trip to Egypt. These temples are located about 280 km south of Aswan, in what was called Nubia during the pharaonic era. The construction of the main temple is attributed to Pharaoh Ramses II in 1264 BC. Also noteworthy is the lower temple excavated in honor of his favorite wife, Queen Nefertari. For centuries, the Abu Simbel temples were abandoned until they were discovered in 1813 by the Swiss J. L. Burckhardt, and the Italian explorer Giovanni Belzoni entered their interior in 1817. With the construction of the Aswan Dam in 1964, the temples of Ramses II and Nefertari were cut piece by piece and rebuilt at a site nearly 65 m higher, forming two immense reinforced concrete domes. At the scheduled time, attend the impressive sound and light show at the Abu Simbel temples. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
